The South American U19 Showcase has become the single best evaluation window for the 2007 and 2008 classes, pulling together the top club and national-team prospects from six countries for a week of games in front of international scouts and, this year, a handful of college coaches.
A few things stood out: the level of competition at forward was the strongest we've seen at this event in years, several previously under-the-radar prospects from smaller federations made a real case for themselves, and perimeter shooting, as a region-wide trend, keeps improving year over year.
Full individual notes on every prospect we tracked at the showcase are being folded into the updated 2007 and 2008 class rankings over the coming weeks.
